OK sports fans, a few events coming up to incorporate into your planning. Please share with others in your organizations.
Wednesday, June 10, 2015
6:00-8:00PM. Annual Perkins School for the Blind Cruise out of Watertown Yach Club
. 20+ powerboats will carry kids and adults from the Perkins School for a cruise downriver to the Mass Ave Bridge and back. A line of 20 boats causes a significant string of wake even at low speed, and these guys will be carrying more guests than usual. Bottom line, this will be a very choppy day for rowers and kayakers. If you're not up for the challenge, make other plans.

Saturday, June 13, 2015
7:30 - 8:30AM. Jim Hanley Memorial Row and Pot Luck Breakfast at Riverside Boat Club.
Launching from Riverside, down to the HOCR start line (below the BU Boathouses), row up to Newell Boathouse (above Anderson Bridge) and back to Riverside.
Expect a LARGE number of boats to participate in this memorial event in honor of Jim Hanely, former President, longtime member, all time great. All boaters are welcome to participate in this event to celebrate Jim's life by doing what Jim loved - rowing and socializing. Just bring a dish and a story to share over breakfast. Other boaters are asked to give way to what will surely be a large number of boats of varying speed. Memorial row participants are asked to stay clear of Dragonboat event running out of MIT.

9:00AM - 5:00PM? Dragon Boat Festival. On the 2k course between Mass Ave and BU Bridges, likely using the 3rd 500M in front of MIT's Pierce Boathouse. Lots of Boats. Racing all day.

Sunday, June 14, 2015
9:00AM - 5:00PM? Dragon Boat Festival.
Top part of the Powerhouse Course, between Western Ave and Weeks Bridges. Lots of Boats. Racing all day. Watch out for temporary docks placed just downstream of Weeks.

Sunday, July 12, 2015
Cromwell Cup Regatta. All Day starting at 7:30AM and lasting through 5:30pm on the Powerhouse Course
(Weeks Bridge to Magazine Beach), launching from Riverside Boat Club. Jam packed day of racing with lots and lots of boats. Powerboaters are asked to pack your patience while waiting for scheduled breaks in racing for you to travel the course and follow the instructions of the race officials. Kayakers/paddleboarders should avoide this area if at all possible.

Sunday, July 19, 2015
8:00AM Charles River One Mile Swim.
(listed as Sunday, June 19 in the email but July 19 on the website) Postponed from June 6, this event takes place in the Lower Basin (between Longfellow and Mass Ave). We're unsure of the course but it should be well marked with buoys and safety boats. Sailors, rowers, canoe/kayakers should steer clear and follow the instructions of race officials if in the area.

Bridge Construction

Longfellow Bridge. Lots of barges and boats. Follow the markers to use appropriate arch or better yet, turn around if you don't have to go through it.
Anderson Bridge. Cambridge Arch is closed, Center arch should be used by rowers as upstream only. Powerboaters will use the center arch in both directions. The State does not always alert us to changes in arch closings, so if you see something, say something! send a note to CharlesRiverAllianceofBoaters@gm ail.com. The boat you save may be someone you know.
